What does research use only mean?
What the research-use-only label means, where the phrase comes from, and how Genesis applies it.
"Research use only" (RUO) appears on every Genesis product. Here's what it means for how products are described, sold and used.
What research use only means
Products labelled research use only are supplied for laboratory and research purposes. They are not intended for human or veterinary consumption or administration, and they are not drugs, supplements or medical products.
The phrase is also used in US regulations for some laboratory products. For example, FDA rules for in-vitro diagnostic products require products in the research phase to be labelled "For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures." The idea is the same: the product is for research, not for clinical or personal use.
What it means at Genesis
- How we describe products. Names, CAS numbers, sizes, storage and lab results. No usage instructions and no claims about effects.
- Who we sell to. Buyers confirm they are 21 or older and buying for laboratory research only, at the age check and again at checkout.
- What we don't provide. Genesis Biomapping does not provide medical advice or instructions for human or veterinary use.
Why it matters
Clear research-use labelling sets honest expectations about what a product is and how it's documented. It's also why our product pages focus on documentation, such as batch-specific certificates of analysis, rather than outcomes.
